Police Officer and Taurus Alphanso New Albums/CDs Release Party September 6. Jamaican born dub-poet and Miami-Dade police officer Malachi (Malachi Smith) and his brother Taurus Alphanson (Neville Anderson) will launch their new albums Luv Dub Fever and Survivor on Saturday, September 6, 2008, 10 pm at Marcia’s Café, 3750 North State Road 7 (441) in Lauderdale Lakes. The event sponsored by Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) will also feature special guest performers Sharon Forrester and Winston Dias. The acts will be backed by the No Apology Band. M.C. is John T of WAVS 1170 AM Radio. Admission is $15.00. Survivor is Taurus Alphanso’s second album. It features 13 tracks arranged by legendary Jamaican musicians and producers KarL Pitterson and Eugene Gray with mixing by Hugh Palmer and Paul Virgo. Taurus debut album Strong Gifted and Black received strong air play on Caribbean radio in After relocating to Luv Dub Fever is a compilation of 12 specially selected poems. The CD features vocals by Sharon Forrester, Ettosi, Cindy, Cassandra, Winston Dias, Taurus Alphanso, Splity Atombo and Major Conrod. Musicians are Dean Fraser, first track, Karl Pitterson, Mikey Fanus and Splitty Atombo. Marlon Smith, Malachi’s son is the production engineer for the project. The liner notes fro the CD was written by Professor Mervyn Morris of the University of the West Indies (UWI). He stated that this is “Malachi’s best work to date.”
